This summer, I had the privilege of interning at CTV North Suburbs as a production assistant. Through my experience, I learned a lot about both studio and truck productions. I also developed a better understanding of the different equipment in the CTV studio and control room, and how it works together.
My roles ranged from camera operator to editor, to writer and storyteller. I worked on multiple projects throughout the summer, gaining proficiency in all phases of production. I ran audio during studio shoots, interviewed talent during a sponsorship shoot, served as a grip, ran graphics, and operated cameras (handheld, tripod and PTZ).
My favorite project from the summer was a package I created about a youth ultimate frisbee team (Minnesota Superior) that was training to representing Minnesota at the National Tournament. For this project, I was able to use a Cannon C100 camera and an Atomos Shogun to conduct interviews, and capture b-roll. I also learned a lot about color correction during the post production phase of this project.
I am grateful for my internship at CTV because of the people I met, the skills I strengthened, and the confidence I gained.
